Ранее Сердар Бердымухамедов и Си Цзиньпин встречались в Узбекистане во время Саммита Шанхайской организации сотрудничества (ШОС) в сентябре 2022 года. Тогда основной темой обсуждения стало увеличение объемов поставок туркменского газа, направляемого в Китай, а также реализация совместных проектов в области транспорта и логистики.
